Kenjon Barner returning for senior season
From UO Football SID Andy McNamara via Twitter:
KenjonBarner, currently enrolled at Oregon, will NOT be leaving school before his senior season #goducks
So not that it was a big concern, but it would seem that we can put this to bed for now. With LaMichael James leaving, the Oregon rushing attack will take a hit. But the Ducks return 3 backs with game experience, which is a better position than they were in last year.
Barner leaving would have put some legitimate worry into the 2012 season, but with him back, the Ducks should be primed for another championship run.

I am shockingly far more relieved than I thought I'd be
If I could kiss Nick Holt, I would. Though, with him, I’m sure it would end in deep penetration and a score
Love it
Feel like coaches gave both him and LaMike good advice. Really care for the kids.
I love him returning, but am glad it’s for the right reasons. Total team guy who could have taken easy way out- complained about position change, backup status- given up altogether after scary injury in 2010. Compare that to the two freshman that transferred last year because they couldnt be the guy.
These are exactly the type of kids you build a special season and a special program around.

Woot!
"I thought we were going to see an @ESPN highlight where (DT) was gonna rip the knee brace off...like Forrest Gump running down the field." Chip Kelly
Yay!
I’m really happy he made this decision – for him even more than for the team. After the role he has so willingly played the last 3 years he deserves to be The Guy this year. I want him to get lots of yards, lots of TDs and lots of press.

This season will be fascinating both as far as those coming in and those staying.
Kenjon finally gets to show what he can do with 25 touches per game. DT is a 5th-year senior QB entering his 3rd year as a starter. What can DAT do for an encore? He’ll get more touches for sure. Will Tra be the “Thunder” to the KJB/DAT “Lightning?” We have a flood of redshirts coming in all around the field, from the lines to linebackers to receivers. Is Anthony Wallace going to take his first steps towards being the next leader of the defense after spot duty this year? Will we see Marcus Mariota in the 4th quarter of the OOC games? Who wins Eddie’s spot? Does Ifo leapfrog Hill into the other starting CB spot? Does Andre Y challenge for serious PT? Does Ebert become an important part of the DT rotation? Who’s our punt returner? Does Beard resume FG duties? Will the RFr receivers bust out? Vaughn? Dungy? Hawkins?
Is it September yet? Damn. I need one of those hypersleep chambers from Aliens. Or just encase me in carbonite.

Stay tuned folks, where all these questions and more will be answered in the next Season of.....As the World Wins the Day!
For Oregon, King Kelly, and St Quack!
A while back they replayed the 2011 Under Armour game.
Andre Yruretagoyena was a total beast, sometimes blocking three separate levels on the same play. I look forward to seeing what he can do as a Duck. BTW, how hard is it to spell Yruretagoyena?
These are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others. -Groucho Marx
Also- what do you do with Bryan Bennett
He now enters his 3rd year in the system and has more game experience then DT did heading into 2010…
Strictly backup qb- or is he just too good not to design a package for him to play some to throw teams off guard?
by Duckfreak on Jan 14, 2012 10:47 AM PST via mobile up reply actions
What?!
This is such a dumb question! You start him over your 5th year Senior, duh!
For Oregon, King Kelly, and St Quack!
Not saying start him- love DT
I’m saying have a package where he comes in games. For example Stanford had a package this year where Luck was replaced. I think it could be effective and I think you can trust Bennett with the ball and to bring a spark.
At the very least one more thing for DC to stay up nights preparing to defend.
by Duckfreak on Jan 14, 2012 1:51 PM PST via mobile up reply actions
DT is the leader of this team
I wrongly called for Bennett a couple times this year…..never again. Not after the way DT bounced back from his 2nd INT to get us a win in the Rose Bowl. The guy just never gets rattled and you couldn’t ask for any better game experience then DT has.

As long as you stay FAR away from platooning.
I hope BB gets snaps in the second halves of games that are under control, but there’s only so far a coach can go to get a backup QB snaps before it becomes a problem.

Duck fans, my goodness relax. The rumor going around is just that, a rumor. Not NCAA related, has to do with a player possibly leaving

I've heard things about a player which I'm not gonna name cause then you'd all call me a rumor-mongerer and C*nz*nite
But his name rhymes with Posh Puff

I think this will hurt
but am fine with it due to his negative attitude this year. He wants to be “the guy” on a team. If it’s him I wish him the best of luck wherever he transfers too

The ‘Bennett v Mariota’ QB controversy will consume every Duck related website/blog/forum for the next 9 months. Chip will do nothing but fuel this fire by not announcing the winner until an hour before kick-off on Sept 1. Silly Chip…
So you're saying the battle for the QB2 spot will "consume" us for the next 9 months?

Thanks Jared. Sorry for replying and feeding the troll, but it’s not every day you see someone say something like that to your mom, Internet or not.

I shoulda never used that word
especially not to a marines mom. If it matters – I’m sorry.
We all eat crow
Apology accepted on my part.
The mockery wasn’t meant to be personal – we mock each other all the time on this board, and mock ourselves as well! Your info was so shocking it was bound to cause disbelief, but we didn’t mean it as a personal attack. I’m sorry if it seemed that way.
ATQ's #1 fan of WINNING THE ROSE BOWL
you have nothing to apologize for
I was just typing that long post and wasn’t thinking at all when I tried to make a jab back at you guys. I didn’t at all mean to get personal (how could I if I don’t know you?), but my word choice made it very personal.
And I knew I would be faced with some mockery, as it was part of the reason I was doing it. I had this huge secret and nothing to do with it so I was going for the “I told you so”, which is always fun. I would have enjoyed it all had I not used that word. As jtlight said to me in my warning, I was trying to call MD mom out for not being creative in her jab at me, and I did something that lacked ALL creativity.
So since that's all behind us
Tell me oh great soothsayer…You don’t really know that Mariota will be staring next year, right?
ATQ's #1 fan of WINNING THE ROSE BOWL
Ha, no it's just a guess. But if you haven't seen his high school tape
Those in the know say that Mariota is going to be a can’t-miss star. He’s taller, faster, more accurate, and has a higher football IQ. Bennett does have the edge in arm strength and experience though.
Mariota is a poly-legend in Hawaii and word hasn’t spread about him in the states yet, not even among Oregon fans. I’m willing to go as far as to say Mariota will win a Hesiman trophy barring injury.
I was going to let this go,
but why did you take a cheap shot at DD and myself when we weren’t the only commenters?
You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.
I was going to say that I back you up in your statement
But then I thought that a man from the Marine Corps doesn’t need backup from a 135 lbs. college student.

Darron Thomas, who said in December he was returning to school, has instead elected to turn pro.
I don’t get it.
Somewhere, somehow, a Duck is watching you.
I'm waiting to hear it from DT,
it just doesn’t make sense.
You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.
It was just reported on KGW that DT is going pro
If ya can't get your Dick Enright, get your Dick Harter!
It makes perfect sense if Chip came to him and told him Bennett was going to start over him next year
Bennett’s the better QB
This would never happen.
If Bennett was as flawless as you think he apparently is (for some reason unbeknownst to myself), wouldn’t he have won the job in fall camp?
Winners of the Platypus trophy!
I dont think hes flawless, but waht if chip said "theres a good chance he will start"
If theres any chance that DT gets benched he will have no draft value the year after. And DT isn’t exactly that great. because of the system hes in he gets a lot of wide open throws, but if you watch his throws they aren’t that accurate
Of course we'll never know
but I just don’t really see this scenario. Despite the fact that he didn’t have the strongest arm and had that long motion, Darron Thomas took us to the NCG in his first year and won the Rose Bowl this year. Kid is a WINNER. I think it likely that Chip would have stuck with him.
ATQ's #1 fan of WINNING THE ROSE BOWL
yeah, but chip believes in his system
remember when he started DT over the more experienced QB in DT’s first year. He says he will re evaluate his QB’s every year. And most the ex players that were there all said Bennett looked the best.
Who cares what ex-players say? All the current players believed in DT. Bennett was not going to seriously compete for the starting job this year.
Now it becomes a battle between Mariota and Bennett. Let’s not hand the job to Bennett, he has to earn it.
--AddictedToQuack, SBNation's Oregon Ducks blog
It's going to sort of suck having to be patient with a newly starting QB once again.
The creampuffs that we are warming the season up with look brilliantly scheduled now.
