Aaron Jones leaves baseball to pursue firefighting career

Interesting note from Adam Jude this morning:

Aaron Jones, one of the Oregon baseball team's most productive hitters the past two seasons, has left the UO and plans to pursue a career as a fighter, UO coach George Horton said Friday night.

Jones had been drafted in the 18th round by the Colorado Rockies, but the thought was that when he didn't sign, he would come back. Instead, he has decided to move on and pursue his career. My brother-in-law is a firefighter, and it is among the most noble of professions. You have to give credit to Jones to be willing to leave baseball behind. We certainly wish him the best of luck and thank him for his two seasons as a Duck.
