Oregon Ducks Recruiting: Thomas Tyner Met With Gary Campbell This Morning; Doug Brenner Still Committed to Oregon

Jonathan Ferrey

Jesuit's Doug Brenner is sticking with his Oregon commitment, and it looks like Aloha's Thomas Tyner will, too.

With all the underclassmen on Oregon's roster, there are few immediate worries to fill in recruiting for next season. However, with the graduation of Kenjon Barner, Byron Marshall and De'Anthony Thomas are the only scholarship running backs left on the roster next season.

For this reason, in addition to the fact that he is a rare, five-star in-state prospect, fans have been looking forward to seeing Aloha RB Thomas Tyner at Oregon next season. He already decommitted once, albeit briefly, earlier this season, so some fans are concerned at what the Chip Kelly news could mean.

Tyner has mentioned before that he would stay at Oregon if Chip Kelly left, and apparently he was meeting with running backs coach Gary Campbell when the Chip Kelly news broke, and multiple services are reporting that the Ducks have nothing to worry about. In comments to the Oregonian, Tyner's dad said "I think he's still committed to the Ducks, but I don't know." At this point in the game, with signing day being close, and the remainder of Oregon's staff virtually assured of sticking around, Tyner is almost a lock to sign with the Ducks. It also looks like Dontre Wilson is sticking with his commitment at this time.

That same Oregonian article reports that Jesuit offensive lineman Doug Brenner texted that he is "not shocked," and is still going to Oregon. Brenner's sister, Liz, plays four sports at UO.
