A Few Thoughts on the Ducks

  • Personally, I am really upset about the loss of ol Colt. I get that he had a bad attitude, or bad work ethic/practice habits, or whatever his obvious character flaws were, but I really had hoped he would have came into this season with his head on straight and been a dominant force. He was a big weapon for us. I liked his "mean streak" so long as it didn't damage Oregon. He had a "nasty" about him. Maybe this really is "addition by subtraction," but I am really disappointed that he went AWOL and wasted such an opportunity.
  • Grasu is about one of the coolest, most humble guys you could ask for on your team. OregonLive had recently done a really good piece on him and it gave me a whole new respect for his selflessness. Like Kiko Alonso and Jeff Maehl before him, Grasu is going to be one of the guys who I really miss when he's gone.
  • 6-0 is awesome. Today's victory was HUGE. I know a lot of you were nervous (PANIC) about it, and reasonably so. Washington wanted to rip our feathered heads off. And with no Colt (seriously....crap) and DAT, a lot could have happened. But Mariota is the real deal. Best quarterback in the country, and I am not being biased (well, a little). I am thrilled that he's running the show for us. The fact that he is so composed and humble is just the icing on the cake.
  • A benefit to being a hardcore Ducks fan living in Michigan is that I get friends/Wolverine fans texting me, telling me how good the Ducks look. Respect.
  • I think we're juuuuuuuuuuuuuust fine without Manziel and Seastrunk.
  • When Huff holds onto the ball, he's one of my favorite players in this year's squad.
