Ok another year, where the clock is eaten up by an opponent in a big game. How many years are going to be wasted with this Defensive Scheme against a power offense. Regardless of how poorly the offense played, the fact is another 4 or 5 times to get the football to the offense and we probably Win. The root problem is Defensive Coaching; everyone knows it and many fans have complained about the Allioti Defense for years. When Stanford pulls its non-play side guard for their power run, you have to have a nimble linebacker shoot the gap every time... as Stanford was shooting the "A" Gap the entire game. If their guards slant to fill the gap vacated by the pulling guard you then run blitz from the outside. This is really defense 101, yet we saw essentially no Oregon linebackers in the backfield the entire game breaking up the handoff before their running back could get the exchange. OMG, with the Stanford Power Game so predictable we should have been Run Blitzing on every play attacking the exchange between QB and RB, this was a disgrace in defensive Coaching. Is anyone finally going to fire Allioti, if not you can forget about a National Championship; how many seasons are going to be fumbled away when we are beaten time and time again by a basic power game?
