I was trying to find a list or something on here to see what Ducks were picked in the 2013 MLB Draft, but couldn't find anything. Me being the procrastonater that I am decided to write my own and post here instead of studying for finals.
In case you are infatuated with the NBA Finals or NHL Playoffs, or just live under a rock because finals week is coming up, the MLB Draft was this weekend. Oregon baseball came off one of its best years ever, only to have their hearts broken in Regionals by Rice, but that didn't mean that they wouldn't make a strong impression in this year's draft. Without further adieu, here is how the Ducks fared:
Ryon Healy, JR 1B- PIck #100 Oakland Athletics
Jimmie Sherfy, JR RHP- Pick #300 Arizona Diamondbacks
Cole Wiper, SO RHP- Pick #310 Texas Rangers
J.J. Altobelli, SR SS- Pick #545 St. Louis Cardinals
Christian Jones, SR LHP- PIck #552 San Francisco Giants
Brett Thomas, JR LF- Pick #627 Seattle Mariners
Also, top baseball commit Matt Krook, LHP out of St. Ignatius College Prep (CA) was selected with pick #35 by the Miami Marlins in the first supplemental round. Krook was the highlight of this years recruiting class, and has even been compared to Chris Sale of the White Sox by Harold Reynolds. I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd pick Krook to sign a-la Carson Kelly last year.
I was having trouble finding a good list of the current commits for next year, but being an A's fan, I stumbled upon Oregon commit Francis Christy, C who was picked at #1121 by the Oakland Athletics. I feel like he'll try his luck in college, but crazier things have happened.
Well, that is enough procrastinating for me, time to actually get some homework done. Hope this was helpful and go Ducks!
