It looks like the summer-long wait for Vernon Adams to finally become eligible has finally paid off.
It was announced that Vernon Adams, along with Notre Dame transfer Matt Hegarty, will be two new senior leaders to start for the Ducks. Adams has been battling it out with Jeff Lockie, someone a lot of people thought would be the heir apparent to Heisman winner and former Duck quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Vernon Adams, as we all know, is the transfer from Eastern Washington, who had a little bit of trouble getting in to the Oregon program. It literally came down to the last math test to determine if he would be able to suit up for the Ducks as a senior. He is a two time runner up to the Walter Payton award, which is the FCS award given to the player of the year. He is coming off of a season where he threw 35 touchdowns and 3,483 yards. Adams first start will come against none other than his former team, Eastern Washington.
There is a lot of hype surrounding Adams and him coming to Oregon, so let's hope that he lives up to that, as it looks like he will be leading the Ducks to a return to the playoffs.
Stay tuned for updates.
