In my conversations with Josh and other high school coaches, we have lamented the loss of the counter play in the Oregon offense, and now we realize it was there under our nose all along! Nice catch by Josh and some fun screenshots from five years ago. My thanks to Bret Landess (Scubaduck) who provided the cool footage of the Purdue game of 2008 for examples of the old counter in the Oregon offense. I going to put it out there….what other plays serve as a counter now? (C’mon coaches….) P.S. If any of you have more footage of 2007, 2008, or 2009…I need it!
There is something interesting going on with our Zone Read attack as it appears that Oregon has added a new wrinkle to help open things up. We KNEW as fans that our coaches are continuously countering-the-opponents-counters to us, but this is fascinating to me. I love how it utilizes a position of strength, and opens things up further for Lyerla and Ka’ai. Think we will see it further?
How many of you have asked for more info about our Special Teams? New Analyst Todd Moore breaks down a play from one of our favorite Special Team formations, and it is surprising all that is going on in fractions of a second. Read and come back to discuss here….and I’m curious if you think he made the right decision on this. Should Dion have banged it up the middle?
Guys…don’t miss this one. The skill of a writer is reflected in how he can take the complicated and make it simple for us to understand, and Sean did a great job with secondary zone coverages. I learned some things and hope you do too. (Read there and discuss here-thanks)
Cheserek is one of the best American Prep runners ever and now the two-time Footlocker winner holds the indoor two-mile record for a high schooler. He's a great runner and a huge addition to the U of O Cross Country and Track programs.
How did we stop Kansas State’s passing game in the Fiesta Bowl? Sean answers it in another informative and entertaining analysis….just when I thought last week’s was the best!
You want to see Oregon on the cover of NCAA Football 14? You can vote here by liking their Facebook page. The video is pretty fun. Makes me think of the long, long off-season that we have to endure but we'll get through it. That's what we do right?
Ready to take a break from the recruiting drama to learn about our defense? Sean grew up as a "Coach’s son" and had been breaking film down for his father for over 15 years. He served as a consultant this last summer to my defensive tutorials, and now is producing his first analysis for Oregon fans.
Want an example of an in-game adjustment where we changed our plays to counter a defensive strategy? Josh found one in the Fiesta Bowl that occurred early on, and since Helfrich was on the headphones—he knows all about these strategies. (For all we know—it may have been him that suggested it!) Interesting key by the defense…. We have begun Basketball Analysis of the Dana Altman attack and will have a new one up on the front page Wednesday. Read there and discuss here! Thanks to all.
