Chris Miller interview (video)

+

The next video in the Campus Attic interview video series is out, this one was filmed in Dino Philyaw's kitchen with Chris Miller, the local Eugene product who joined the team in 1983 and became the starting QB in 1984. By 1986 he was Pac-10 offensive player of the year, and a first round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 1987, beginning a 10-year NFL career. These historic interviews are always a lot of fun to film, hopefully they're enjoyable to watch and relive some great memories too. Truly one of the all-time greats from Oregon, Chris is now back in Eugene training the next generation as a coach. See him tell his story in his own words. http://www.campusattic.com/video/chris-miller-interview

Dino Philyaw interview: 90s Runningback Fueled Rose Bowl Run (1993-94)

+

Remember Dino Philyaw? Part of the backfield tandem of the 1994 Rose Bowl team alongside Ricky Whittle, Dino came to Eugene by way of North Carolina after playing minor league baseball. He also ran track at Oregon, and went on to spend several years in the NFL with the Patriots, Saints, and Panthers. Of course who could forget his two TDs vs. Oregon State in 1994, which sent the Ducks to the Rose Bowl. Today he runs a catering company in Eugene, Philyaw's Cookout, and his BBQ sauce is available in stores around Oregon. I was lucky enough to sit down with him and hear his story in his own words, pretty interesting to hear the inside stories of the 1993 and 1994 Oregon football teams.

Jack Rust grew up an Oregon Ducks fan, and walked on with the football team when he arrived at the University of Oregon in 1965. A year later, he was a starter on the defensive line, a stalwart in the trenches for the Ducks from the end of Oregon football's era at Hayward Field and the early days of Autzen Stadium, a defensive captain, and a coach's favorite beyond just his constant supply of deer jerky he used to bribe Len Casanova and Jerry Frei for playing time.
