The Oregon Ducks have lost a receiver as sophomore Kirk Merritt announced on twitter he's transferring from the program due to "family situations."

Merritt hails from Destrehan, Louisiana, so he was a long way from home in Eugene. He would have been a sophomore this fall after playing on special teams and catching five passes for 61 yards and zero touchdowns last season. As a high school senior Merritt was ranked as the No. 5 prospect in the state of Louisiana and No. 146 overall by ESPN.
The transfer is a blow to Oregon's offense, but the Ducks still have loads of talent at receiver with Darren Carrington, Dwayne Stanford, Devon Allen and Charles Nelson returning. True freshman Dillon Mitchell has also impressed this spring.
