UO Lands Kamyron Brown

Basketball kind of gets overshadowed this time of year, but the Ducks made a splash by getting a verbal commitment from Kamyron Brown, rated by some as the top point guard prospect on the west coast.  It cannot be finalized until letters of intent are signed in November, but the 6'2" point guard from Mater Dei appears to be a Duck.  Apparently, he was lightly recruited because many people thought he was a lock to go to Arizona.  Fortunately, the Ducks were able to persuade him otherwise.

While its great to see such a high level recruit commit to Oregon, Ernie Kent still has a lot of questions surrounding him.  Why can't he convince Oregon's high level talent, such as Kevin Love and Kyle Singler, to come to Eugene?  And, more importantly, why can't he seem to win any games?  With the kind of talent the Ducks have, we should be able to expect a top-4 Pac-10 finish and an NCAA tournament berth every year.  If Kent doesn't deliver that this season, he doesn't deserve to still be around in 2007.

Also of note is that the Ducks have announced that Josh Akwenuke, last years leading scorer at Lane Community College, will walk-on to the basketball team.  He's a 6'5", 200 lb. guard who averaged 22.1ppg and 7.8rpg at Lane last year.  Nice to see the Ducks letting a local kid from Lane walk-on.  Don't expect him to play too much, though.

Kent
needs to recruit two guys with the first name Luke to have any real success. Not happening any time soon, I'd bet.

Lukes..
there just aren't a lot of ballers named "Luke" around.  However, we also had a pretty good player named Freddie Jones.  God, I loved that team!
