That made my day a little better. Did anyone really expect the ducks to win after watching the Arizona game?

Funny Picture
C'mon people, what do you expect when you're on your 5th (I remind you 5th!) string quarterback, you have redshirt and true freshmen playing everywhere, AND you're on the road. The defense played completely lights out football and the special teams were pretty solid, especially on punt coverage.
While Leaf was in there we had a shot with the way the defense was playing but once he went down any hope of a consistant offense went with him.
They're our Ducks, we love 'em, win or lose. It's just a lot easier to get excited when it's win.
Time for the Beavs to come to town, they're beat up too. I see another very low scoring game.

best thing, actually...
I know you're not wanting to hear this from a Beaver alum, but losing today was the best thing for the UO football program. One thing you guys did NOT want is to squeek into the Rose Bowl sputtering and spraying oil and get blown up by 45 point by Ohio State in front of the entire nation -- because without Dixon, that's what was going to happen.

Now UO is in a position to beat the Beavers at home (a game which is looking increasingly like a pick-'em matchup, whereas it was +14 a couple weeks ago), go to a good bowl, and compete for better or worse out of the most glaring of spotlights.

Of course, a loss to OSU would be a very sour finish to the season, as OSU would be the 3 and UO the 4 in the Pac-10. So there's something riding on the game... But winning today and beating the Beavers would have been an absolute catastrophe in front of the whole country, trust me.

who cares?
You can try to say "embarassment" or whatever.  We just don't know.  But you as a Beaver fan should know just as well as I that you don't get too many chances at a Rose Bowl, and I wanted that chance.

I agree with timbo
The reasoning there is actually very valid. Nonetheless, of course I wanted wins to end the year, but that's true. And I've been saying El Paso ever since the UA game. I shift to Las Vegas or bust. Bust will leave us a little more dignified I guess.

Definately
Decline the bowl invitation. IDK how much money they will be offered, but it will not be worth it

Hmmmmm
I don't know if I should just slit my wrists, puke, or call it quits.  I think I might just do all three!
Dan Fouts is a douche!

Goto the bowl, without a doubt
I hate it when people say we should not go to a bowl, they are dumb.
Go to the bowl, because you get the practice time, and that is so critical with these young players.
Seriously, even if we get drilled by Texas Tech in the Sun Bowl, that is fine with me because it is all about next year at this point and the added practice time is worth any embarrassment we get.
Because, frankly, NO ONE will remember.  Do you think they remembered the fiasco at the LV bowl when we were the media darlings?

BOWLS
Of course a team goes to a bowl if it gets the chance. That's a given. And if UO can't get the offense in gear by then and loses in whichever bowl it's in, it won't be held against anyone or the program, because the world changed for the Big Green Ducks when Dixon went down; now it's damage minimization.

I'm pretty sure about two things: Ohio State is one of the best teams in the country and has to be regarded as the favorite in the Rose Bowl against anyone (and they would have blown up the winged Ducks); and Hawaii is the best team in the west this year, not anyone in the Pac 10.

I sincerely disagree with that Ohio State point
They're boring. They lose at home to the first real tough team they play. Sure, they beat Michigan, but Michigan is boring too.

I agree with the Hawaii thing, though there is a chance that if you put them in a room in which there are no windows or doors, they would get pummeled by the Oregon Ducks circa the Michigan game (+ Dennis, Jeremiah, Cam, Brian, AJ, and John, of course.)

A healthy Oregon beats all comers
I do not doubt that, but as it is... we all got to deal with injuries.
I also think that a dinged up Ducks team with a buncha JV receivers and D2 talent wins out... IF they have Dennis.
Dennis was that special.

I Felt Sorry For Them
And I kept hoping for a couple of touchdowns even well into the fourth quarter maybe with Roper's long bomb getting caught, or a punt return or something.  The defense did so well for having to pay so many minutes.  We just needed the football angels to assist a little.  Our faily is divided as to whether to watch the civil war game.  I say we watch, because they must play, and they need our support now more than ever.  It will help that Van Halen is that evening.
