Sorry for the lack of posts recently. There has been a lot to do over the holidays. I've set aside an hour to do some Sun Bowl stuff tonight (I know, I said I would get to it a week ago, fifty lashes for me), but for now, I want to mention two things:

It was another mediocre effort from the basketball team as they edged Mt. St. Mary's 81-73 at Mac Court. There is no excuse for this team to be playing as poorly as they are, and I am feeling none too confident as Pac-10 play opens up with a trip to the desert next weekend.

Also, as if trying to steal our coach wasn't enough of a reason to hate UCLA, they have hired Rick Neuheisel as their new head coach. I can smell the recruiting violations now. As much as I hate Neuheisel, though, UCLA just became a lot scarier.

Let's not forget

The basketball team went threw a terrible stretch last year, and bounced back with wins over the Washington schools, OSU, and than tore threw the PAC 10 Tourney. Maybe this is what this team needed was some adversity before we head into Conference Play. This is an expieranced team that can get threw this mediocore play, but it's gonna take the same type of Senior leadership we saw from Aaron last year to get threw this. This is still a potentially dangerous starting 5 with three players (Porter, Hairston, Taylor) very capable of scoring 20pts each, and add in 10-15 pts by Catron, and Maarty's ability to shoot from outside.

we had that against good teams, pac 10 teams. not mt. st. mary's. not the gaels. not nebraska.

Just being optimistic

No worries Dave, I knew what you meant just being optimistic just like I am come Monday. Hopefully some real snaps with the first team, gives Justin enough confidence to be able to lead us to an upset victory over SFU.

Neuheisel

Not that much scarier. He'll do well with Dorrell's players, then slowly sink into mediocrity, just like he did at CU and UW. He's very overrated as a recruiter. But Rick v. Pete should be pretty entertaining.

Also, Neuheisel called defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker was "my No. 1 recruit." He already left several messages for Walker, but the two are yet to talk.

Can I dream for a day that MB would tweak Rick again by stealing Walker and firing Alliotti?

Why?

Walker is Aliotti part deux. Despite all that talent, UCLA's defense was absolutely brutal this year. DeWayne Walker is extremely overrated. I'd love to get rid of NA, but Walker is NOT the man I'd want.
