Besides Football: Other Stuff

To many of us, college sports are about football and basketball.  I confess to this myself:  during my five years at the University of Oregon, I did not attend a sporting event that was not football or basketball.  However, Oregon's other fall sports are in the middle of great things, and they deserve some recognition.

Oregon's volleyball team, which I'm not sure has ever been any good, is off to a good start this season with a 12-3 record (2-3 in the Pac-10), including a big Civil War victory over the Beavers.  Considering that the Ducks won two conference games total in the last three seasons, its a great start for the team.  Here's hoping that they are turning the ship around.

The women's soccer team is on is on a four game winning streak and tied with UCLA atop the Pac-10.  Congrats to Nicole Garbin, who broke Oregon's career scoring record.

Finally, the cross country teams are also fairing quite well.  In their first home meet in quite some time, the Oregon men won the inaugural Bill Dellinger Invitational.  Both the men and the women appear to be contenders in the NCAAs.

Lots of other stuff going on besides football, and glad to see that they're doing well.

GO DUCKS!!!
