I may never again write about women's soccer on the blog. But the Oregon women's soccer team just fell victim to one of the biggest screw jobs in sports history. The Duck women are ranked 17th in the country. They finished second in the Pac-10, widely considered one of the toughest conferences in the nation. They had an impressive twelve wins. All this, and they couldn't get into the 64-team NCAA soccer tournament? Are you freaking kidding me? Oh, yeah--Cal, Stanford, and SC--all teams that finished below Oregon in the conference, are getting in. I am shocked and angered over this. Could you imagine the #17 team in the country not getting into the NCAA basketball tournament. Someone's head would fly. I'm no soccer fan, but hope that the Duck athletes in all sports are doing well. To see this kind of a screwjob going on is truly sad.
Just another in a long list of reasons to fire Tom Hansen as Pac-10 commissioner. Has anyone outside of Eugene heard of this? Hansen should be raising hell.
GO DUCKS!!!
