With the help of his big game on Saturday, Jonathan's been compiling some impressive numbers this season. He currently leads the Pac-10 in rushing yardage. By a lot. Stewart has 940 yards to Forsett's 811 and Bernard's 752. And, he only needed 131 carries compared to 161 and 175 for Forsett and Bernard, respectively. That works out for an incredible 7.2 yards per carry. Stewart's total puts him 9th in the country, with most of the players ahead of him having around 190-200 carries. Unbelievable. And, Stewart should eclipse last season's total of 981 some time next week.
Career-wise, Stewart is 172 rushing yards away from breaking into the Oregon top 10. In all-purpose yards, he's already 9th and should easily move into 8th next week. He's also 3rd all time in kickoff return yardage -- only about 460 yards away from the top spot. And, another game should put this season into Oregon's top 10 for rushing yardage. If he remains healthy, Stewart can eclipse the single season record of 1,411 held by Saladin McCullough.
