The Oregon men's basketball team (3-4) takes on the Kansas State Wildcats (5-2) tonight at Mac Court. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PST, but could be delayed due to the game being nationally televised on Fox Sports Net. The game is a rematch of last year's matchup between the two schools and is a part of the second installment of the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series. The Ducks edged the Wildcats last year in Manhattan, KS, with an 80-77 overtime win against a Kansas State team that featured freshman standout Michael Beasley, a first-team AP All-American in 2008 and the No. 1 overall pick in June's NBA Draft.
However, a series of recent injuries could stack the odds against the Ducks this time around. Junior forward Joevan Catron (ankle) and freshman center Michael Dunigan (elbow), both starters, are questionable for tonight's game, while junior forward Frantz Dorsainvil (broken wrist) remains out.
The Ducks will need big games out of junior Tajuan Porter and redshirt sophomore LeKendric Longmire, as well as freshman Garrett Sim, whose 28-point outburst was one of few highlights for the Ducks in Wednesday night's 95-81 loss at Utah.
GO DUCKS!
Correction notice (12/9/08): Michael Beasley was, in fact, the No. 2 overall pick in June's draft, as pointed out by user usdblazerfan.
