The Oregon men's basketball team (8-21, 2-15 Pac-10) puts a mostly forgettable regular season to rest today with a nationally televised finale with No. 20 UCLA (23-7, 12-5 Pac-10) at Pauley Pavilion. Coverage begins at noon PST, while tipoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
The Ducks are coming off an 80-66 loss at USC on Thursday night, snapping a two-game winning streak. The Trojans, led by DeMar DeRozan's 19 points, halted a three-game skid with only their second win in eight games. Oregon junior Tajuan Porter led all scorers with 20 points.
Meanwhile across town, the Bruins bucked the Beavers, 79-54, moving within a game of first-place Washington. If UCLA knocks off the Ducks today, and the Huskies fall to inner-state rival Wazzu, the Bruins will get a share of the Pac-10 title and potentially the top seed heading into next week's conference tournament, depending on the outcome of the conference's other games.
The Ducks, on the other hand, are playing for pride. Regardless of today's outcome, Oregon will take on the No. 7 seed next Wednesday in the opening round of the Pac-10 Tourney at the Staples Center.
GO DUCKS!
