Morning Quack Fix: 4.16.09

  • The Ducks have passed the mid point of spring football. The R-G's Rob Moseley has Chip Kelly's reflections and other notes. BTW - this Saturday's scrimmage is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m., outside at Autzen, weather permitting (stretching and drills at 12:30; scrimmage starts at 1:10).
  • Just when the Ducks are light on WR experience, the program steps up with some serious talent and depth at tight end. Moseley posted this about Oregon's deepest position.
  • Jason Vondersmith of the Portland Tribune writes that Oregon's defense is now employing a new up-tempo mentality with the intent of using speed and aggressiveness to dictate games.
  • The R-G's Bob Clark had a chance to see new basketball associate head coach Mike Dunlap in action, and he liked what he saw. George Schroeder also attended the same offseason workout and posted some interesting notes about Dunlap's approach to coaching the young Ducks.
  • Jamil Wilson's signing with the Oregon basketball program is officially official. Here's the latest, with quotes from Ernie Kent about landing the Wisconsin player of the year.
  • To say it's been a tough week for Oregon baseball coach George Horton is an understatement. The R-G's Adam Jude posted this story.
  • Other notes: A preview of Saturday's upcoming dual track meet versus UCLA - it should be a tight competition. An article on Oregon sprinter Chad Barlow. Another Civil War baseball game to be added this season?
