Officials for the Boise State game.

A poster had a question about officials for the UO v. BSU game in another thread. I heard a guy on the radio several days back explain that the game won't be officiated strictly by a WAC crew. It sounds like he knew what he was talking about. Here's a little more information that I pulled out of a longer article posted July 31st at IdahoStatesman.com:

WAC WILL USE REGIONAL OFFICIALS

An officiating cooperative that the WAC has participated in for several years will expand this year so that four conferences will use "blended crews" instead of their own officiating crews.

The WAC, Mountain West, Big 12 and newcomer Conference USA have formed College Football Officials West. The conferences put their combined total of more than 200 officials into a single pool.

"My guess is some of our coaches are going to see a lot of faces that they haven't seen before," Benson said.

For Boise State's season opener against Oregon, for example, the WAC will assign the crew but it won't necessarily be WAC officials.

Whatever the case, it won't be Pac-10 officials, which is always a good thing. Oregon cornerbacks should feel free to pick off a Kellen Moore fade in the end zone without this kind of result.
