Quack Fix: South Park's Satirical Take on the NCAA, Michael Dunigan, Softball to SEC Country

I know it's hard to keep an open heart when even friends seem out to harm you, but if you could heal a broken heart wouldn't time be out to charm you?

  • Baseball heads home for a final 3 game homestand as the Oregon St. Beavers come to town looking to gain a Pac-10 crown and a little momentum heading into the post-season. A lot is at stake in this series but not really for Oregon. The Ducks will look to play spoiler with third baseman JJ Altobelli saying it best... "I'd rather anyone be Pac-10 Champs besides the Beavers.". The Ducks are 3-10 against Oregon St. since baseball was reinstated at Oregon.
  • Remember that Michael Dunigan guy who showed flashes of greatness for the men's basketball team before he took his talents to Gordon Beach? Hoops World caught up with him for an interview where the potential 2nd round draft pick shares his thoughts on his time at Oregon and the decision that led him overseas.
  • The NCAA West Regionals in Track and Field are happening now through Saturday and 12 is the magic number. An interesting note buried in the article mentioned assistant athletic director and Track guru Vin Lananna apparently interviewed for the CEO position of USA Track and Field but apparently reaffirmed his commitment to Oregon. I credit a lot of the Oregon Track program's resurgence on Lananna (and sacks with dollar signs on them from Uncle Phil). Martin Smith had 0 NCAA Team Championships in 7 years before Lananna was hired. Vin has  5 since 2006.
  • Softball has advanced to the super regionals and will take on the Florida Gators in SEC country starting Friday at 11am. Here's a list of the times and schedules for TV for the contests.

Looking for some NCAA satire? Look no further than last night's episode of South Park. For the record, I don't care what anyone says. Slash is REAL! Go Ducks!
