The #5 Oregon Ducks volleyball squad swept the Washington State Cougars 25-20, 25-21, and 25-12 in front of 2,921 at Matthew Knight Arena. Friday's win upped coach Jim Moore's record to 14-1 against Washington State.
Oregon had the statistical edge in every category, as the outcome of the contest was rarely in doubt. Oregon won fairly comfortably in the first set, but faced some adversity in the second where they extremely disorganized and let Washington State go on a fairly substantial run, finding themselves down 17-14. However, a timeout righted the ship, and the Ducks would dominate the rest of the 11-4. Oregon then blew the Cougars away in the third set.
Liz Brenner led Oregon with 12 kills, follwed by Alaina Bergsma with 11 and Katherine Fischer with 8. Setter Lauren Plum had 42 assists, five kills, and two aces.
Oregon returns to the court to take on #2 Washington, the only undefeated team left in the country, at 7:00 Saturday night. The game will be streamed on Pac-12.com.
