No. 3 Oregon Ducks Volleyball defeats the Arizona Wildcats, 3-0

The No.3 University of Oregon Ducks Volleyball team (17-1, 8-1 Pac-12) defeated the University of Arizona Wildcats (11-9, 3-6 Pac-12) in Tucson on Friday night, 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-18).

The Ducks broke out to a 17-3 lead in the opening set, eventually dispatching the Wildcats 25-14. The Ducks' defense was outstanding, holding the Wildcats to a .000 hitting percentage.

In the second set, Arizona regained their composure and were able to keep pace but Oregon's offensive sets and defensive abilities proved to be too strong for the Wildcats as the Ducks were able to pull out a tight one, winning the set 25-22.

After the intermission, the Ducks jumped out to a 8-3 set lead, keeping the Arizona defense on their heels by moving the ball around the court and finding point after point. Ariana Williams was key to the 3rd set onslaught, having 5 kills in just the first half of the set. Arizona was unable to compete with the aggressive play of Oregon coming out of the intermission, dropping the third set 25-18, giving Oregon the sweep.

The Ducks improve to 17-1 on the season, 8-1 in Pac-12 play and start their 4-game road trip with a victory. Next up: Arizona State on Saturday, October 20th at 7pm PST.
