For the first time since week three, Oregon falls out of the top 2 in the national SBNation BlogPoll. The Ducks are supplanted by Florida, who garnered 16 first place votes after their dominating win over South Carolina last Saturday. The Gators get another matchup against a highly ranked (but overrated, in this humble blogger's opinion) Georgia team, before their schedule lightens significantly. Oregon receives two first place votes and checks in at number 3, followed by Kansas State (4 first place votes) and Notre Dame (1).
It would appear that bloggers are rewarding Florida for successfully navigating a very tough first half schedule and penalizing Oregon for a relatively weak first half schedule. However, and has been pointed out elsewhere, Alabama seems to be the beneficiary of a double-standard. The Tide's first half schedule is no more impressive than Oregon's, yet the vast majority of voters still have them at number 1 in their polls. Regardless, the Ducks seem to be getting better by the week and after this weekend they enter the heart of their schedule with games against three different top 20 teams in the month of November. The Ducks will have ample opportunity to show the rest of the country that their early season dominance wasn't merely the product of sub-par opponents.
As for the awards, ATQ once again won the "Swing" award for greatest deviation from last week's poll, due in large part to the fact that we had Cincinnati at #7 last week (I blame Tako) and unranked this week after their loss to Toledo.
