Oregon Ducks Elevator: Football Takes Over the Penthouse With a Pair of Epic Performances

The Oregon Ducks Elevator is a weekly series that tracks the ups and downs of players, coaches, personnel, celebrities, locations or really anything that needs to be reviewed from week to week. We'll check in on how the Elevator is operating every Monday during the Football season and periodically throughout the rest of the year.

Dominic Artis: While we didn't know what the expect coming into the 2012-13 season, one thing was obvious. The point guard position was going to be a major question mark. Although it was only the first game, and an exhibition game at that, Dominic Artis did a lot to soothe fears by picking us up in his arms, gently singing a song to us and laying us down after we started snoring loudly. Artis shot 64% from the field, including 75% from three-point land, en route to securing a win over Concordia last week. More importantly, he looked to be comfortable on the court in the flow of the offense. We'll see if he can keep this up as the competition stiffens but for now, I'm really encouraged. Women's Soccer: A mixed bag this week for Women's Soccer. On one hand, the team scored a major upset over the Oregon State Beavers in the Soccer Civil War at Pape Field last week. On the other hand, longtime coach Tara Erickson will not have her contract renewed by the University after posting a 70-71-18 record during her 8-year tenure and finishing last in the Pac-12 this past season. With the facilities and resources available to a potential coach, a job at Oregon may prove to be a somewhat attractive position to coaches nationally. Elevator: Down 1 Floor

Rob Beard: He just hasn't returned to his 2010 form where he made 77% of his field goals. He's hitting about 50% at this point and it doesn't look like it's going to get much better as weather will become more of a factor as the season comes to a close. I'm sure this isn't how Rob envisioned his senior season to go. Elevator: On the Bottom Floor

Marcus Mariota: Lost amidst the Kenjon Barner offensive explosion was the performance of the Flyin' Hawaiian. On any other night, we would be marveling at another fantastic outing by the redshirt freshman. He was 20/23 for 304 yards, had 15 carries for 96 yards and threw for 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. All of this was against the USC Trojans on the road. His decision making was spot on for the entire night. Even when he took sacks, he did so with a purpose... well, when he wasn't getting blindsided. Elevator: In the Penthouse

Women's Volleyball: After rising to #2 in the nation, you just can't take a bad loss to Cal before he get swept by Stanford at home. The team looked out of sorts in this series and not nearly as dominant as in previous weeks. On the upside, the word is getting out that this team can be fun to watch with over 5000 fans attending the Cardinal game at Matthew Knight Arena on Sunday. Elevator: Down 1 Floor

Kenjon Barner: What can you say? He is now the single-game rushing record holder in Oregon football history. He is now in serious Heisman Trophy discussions and should be for the rest of the season. He also might have the best hair on the football team. Apologies to Isaac Remington. Elevator: In the Penthouse

Matt Takimoto: Not only does he provide engaging commentary on ATQ, he also went on ESPN UNITE! and represented the entire Addicted to Quack community by taking a rival USC blogger out behind the woodshed in front of at least 15 viewers on national TV! Elevator: Up 3 Floors
