Hope everyone had a great Easter holiday weekend. It was finally nice to have decent weather around here. Well, onto the Quack:
- Dana Altman continued practice of bringing in experienced guards with a commitment from JC Guard Devon Branch. The 6 foot 6 inch shooting guard had a decent offer sheet with offers from Kansas State, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Texas A&M.
- The baseball team had a good weekend as they took 2 of 3 in a series against the #5 rated Ucla Bruins on the road. The Ducks won 6-2 on Thursday and 8-3 on Friday before dropping the final game 6-8 on Saturday. The baseball team is in a very difficult stretch with San Francisco coming to town tonight and tomorrow before the team heads down to Stanford this weekend. With 5 games left, going 3-2 would put Oregon in a prime position for hosting a regional.
- The Ducks swept the Pepsi Team Invitational at Hayward Field this weekend. The #1 ranked Women's team were led by a number of athletes to power them to a win. The men needed a 1-2 finish by Trevor Dunbar and Chris Kwiatkowski in the 5,000 and a strong close by Greer in the 4x400 relay to take the invitational.
- Are you excited for a QB
controversycompetition? With the limited information we are getting out of spring practice, expect the microscope to be at full power for the spring game. What I don't look forward to, will be the inevitable second guessing that will come when whomever starts struggles for the first time. - Speaking of spring practice. There are a ton of articles out there. Moseley has a piece on the offensive linemen, Fentress writes about De'Anthony Thomas, and finally a quick look at what might be happening in practice.
It was definitely a good weekend for Ducks sports. Leave any other pieces you find in the comments and check out a couple of player interviews and a video from Kelly after the jump.
