Oregon baseball wins Eugene Regional, will host Kent State next weekend in Super Regional

The dream season for the Diamond Ducks continues.

The Ducks cruised to an 8-1 victory over Austin Peay, who had defeated Fullerton earlier Sunday. After a controversial opening victory against the Governors in the bottom of the 9th Friday night, Oregon left no chance for drama on Sunday. The Ducks, playing as the away team at PK Park, took advange of Peay's lack of control. They scored in the top of the first, twice in the 3rd, and thrice in the 4th, to take an early 6-0 lead on only four hits, and Brett Hambright hit a two-run longball in the 8th to cap the scoring. Meanwhile, Oregon starter Jake Reed cruised, striking out eight and not allowing a run over seven innings.

As a national seed, the Ducks will host a super regional next week for the right to go to the College World Series. Oregon will host Kent State, the surprise winner of the Gary regional. The Golden Flashes eliminated both Purdue and Kentucky, and will not be intimidated going on the road against a team from a power conference. Like the Regional, the Super Regional is double elimination.

Six Ducks made the all-Regional team: C Brett Hambright, P Jake Reed, 1B Ryon Healy, OF Aaron Jones, OF Brett Thomas, and 3B Ryan Hambright. Ryan Hambright was also named the Regional MVP.
