After receiving a scholarship offer last Tuesday, Doug Brenner today committed to play for the Oregon Ducks. Brenner is 6'3, 280 lbs and plays defensive end and tight end for Jesuit High School in Portland, though he is being recruited as an offensive lineman at Oregon. He is one of the top prep players in the state of Oregon and also had offers from Oregon State, Portland State, Air Force, and Army, among others.
Brenner is Oregon's ninth commitment overall and third offensive line commitment in the 2013 class, joining Alex Redmond and Evan Voeller. Jordan Johnson of northwesteliteindex.com recently noted that Brenner is very athletic and extremely strong, having shattered all of Jesuit's weightlifting records. He was also the first freshman to ever start at the school.
Brenner is a high character kid who is very intelligent (he also had an offer from Yale). His sister Elizabeth is already in Eugene and plays basketball for the Ducks.
