Chip Kelly NFL Rumors: Oregon Coach to Interview With Cleveland Browns on Friday

Reports indicate that Chip Kelly will interview with the Cleveland Browns on Friday, a day after the Fiesta Bowl.

While Chip Kelly has been deflecting questions about the NFL during Fiesta Bowl press events, reports are indicating that the Oregon coach will interview with the Cleveland Browns on Friday, a day after the Fiesta Bowl game.

Reports have been furious that Kelly was seeing significant interest from both the Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles. Cleveland would seem a curious choice for Kelly, being a fairly moribund franchise that has not seen a playoff berth in a decade, and having spent a first round draft pick a season ago on a quarterback--Brandon Weeden--who doesn't really fit the type of offense that Kelly has run historically.

While Kelly was offered--and turned down--the Tampa Bay job last season, he has remained one of the hottest coaches in NFL circles. Given the personnel on the team, the historical success, and the east coast location, Philadelphia would seem a more natural fit for Kelly. Either way, its clear Kelly has options, and Thursday's Fiesta Bowl could be the final day of the Chip Kelly era at Oregon.
