Oregon got great news today as four star wide receiver Devon Allen committed to play for the Ducks. As mentioned in another post this morning, Allen is also an elite track star and plans to participate in both sports while in Eugene. He was known to be very high on Oregon for some time but had been waiting for a football scholarship, having already been offered a track scholarship last fall. There was some speculation that UCLA or Arkansas might be the teams to beat, but no longer.
Devon Allen to #Oregon is a surprise. Thought he was headed to #UCLA. Very nice pickup for Ducks.

Devon Allen becomes the first commit under the Mark Helfrich era for #Oregon - also a track star bit.ly/WWC0KT

Allen is a big target at 6'1, 190 lbs, and also very fast, having been clocked at 4.48 in the 40. He likely hasn't even met his new position coach, Matt Lubick, a ProGrass coach of the year who today was hired away from Duke. Under Lubick, Duke had the most productive pass catching trio in the nation last year.
Allen is Oregon's 14th verbal commitment and the first one under new head coach, Mark Helfrich.
