Offensive Lineman Elijah George of Arbor View, Nevada Commits to the Ducks

George committed after visiting the Ducks over the weekend.

As multiple media outlets reported this evening, Elijah George has given a verbal commitment to play football for Oregon. George is a 6'5, 260 lbs offensive lineman from Arbor View high school outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was visiting Eugene this weekend along with running back Trevorris Johnson and athlete Damion Hobbs.

Arbor View is a relatively new school in northwestern Las Vegas and George is the first person from that school to sign directly with a Division I school. The Las Vegas Sun interviewed George after he committed and he had this to say:

"I felt like it was the right fit," said George, the unquestioned best player in Arbor View’s eight-year history. "It’s just the people up there. They were all nice."

.......................................

"They are always moving on offense and I’m always moving up the field, so it’s a good fit," he said.

George is like many other diamonds in the rough found by Oregon the last 10 years: a late comer to football -- he didn't start until his freshman year of high school -- he is very agile for his size. It wouldn't be surprising to see him redshirt his freshman year as he is still raw and needs some work on the fundamentals, but he could emerge as a very talented lineman for Oregon by his sophomore or junior year.
