College basketball begins Friday for the Oregon Ducks, as they take on the Georgetown Hoyas in South Korea to open a much-hyped 2013-14 season. However, while expectations in Eugene are high even in spite of the recent suspensions to Dominic Artis and Ben Carter, the same can said across the conference. This is the deepest Pac-10/12 in years, with six or perhaps even seven potential NCAA Tournament teams in the conference.
Matt Daddy and I are basketball junkies, but we wanted to take it a step further than just a standard Oregon hoops preview podcast. We're fortunate enough to have repeat podcast guests who are the gurus of Pac-12 basketball on the internet. You know Jeff Nusser from CougCenter (and ESPN Insider) and Adam Butler from PacHoops (and Rush The Court, and Pacific Takes).
What follows is two hours. Twelve teams. And the single best Pac-12 basketball breakdown you will find anywhere. Is Oregon a legitimate contender to Arizona? Will Steve Alford succeed at UCLA? Can Jabari Bird and Nigel Williams-Goss elevate Cal and Washington toward the top of the conference? With the new rules, can anybody stop Jahii Carson and Spencer Dinwiddie? Will Dunk City have an impact at USC this season?
These questions only scratch the surface of what we talk about in what is probably my favorite episode in the history of the ATQ Podcast. If you are a basketball fan, or just a fan of really intelligent conversations involving really intelligent people, this episode is an absolute must-listen. I promise it will be time well spent.
As always, you can listen via the embedded audio, find us on iTunes, or visit the ATQ Page on Talkshoe for options to download or subscribe.
