Oregon Ducks to play Texas Longhorns in Valero Alamo Bowl

As was expected, the Ducks will travel to San Antonio to face the Texas Longhorns.

No official announcement yet, but there is an awful lot of chatter out there:

With leaks all over the internet that Oklahoma would play in the Sugar Bowl, this has looked like the likely destination for the Ducks all day.

The Longhorns finished 8-4 on the season. They lost early season games to BYU and Ole Miss, won six in a row, then lost two of their last three to Baylor and Oklahoma State. There has been wild speculation all season that this bowl game may be Mack Brown's finale as Texas' head coach. Oregon lost two of their last four after starting 8-0, and won their final game on a last minute touchdown drive against the Oregon State Beavers. The game is played in San Antonio, a locale that isn't exactly a neutral environment for these two teams.

Oregon State played in the Alamo Bowl last season against this same Texas team, leading most of the game before falling in the fourth quarter. Oregon and Texas last faced off in the 2000 Holiday Bowl, a game Oregon won 35-30. That is Oregon's only win in the series, as the Ducks are 1-4 against the Longhorns all-time.
