Following rumors all week, Aaron Gordon today announced for Arizona, choosing the Wildcats over Kentucky, Oregon, and Washington.
Gordon joins an Arizona team that was already brimming with talent at the forward position, but still figures to make a big impact and should help the Wildcats garner a lot of national title buzz in the offseason. The Ducks meanwhile are still expected to bring in seven new players next season; five on basketball scholarships, plus Tyrell and Tyree Robinson, who count towards the football scholarship limit.
Oregon was a late addition to Gordon's list of finalist schools but in the end could not beat out Pac-12 rival Arizona. Many speculated that the opportunity to win a national title at Arizona was the reason for Gordon's choice. With the prep phenom out of the picture, it is still possible that the Ducks could pursue a transfer player from a four year school, a la Arsalan Kazemi last year, though that seems unlikely given the lack of scholarships.
Regardless, Oregon still brings in an excellent recruiting class. Check back in the coming week for a full breakdown of the future Ducks.
