It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much--the wheel, New York, wars and so on--while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believe that they were far more intelligent than man--for precisely the same reasons.
Onto the Quack:
- Baseball started off the last homestand of the year in winning fashion, nipping Gonzaga, 4-3, at PK Park. Same two teams go at it tonight before the big Civil War series this weekend.
- If you remember, Darrell Hunter was the very first recruit for the reinstated Oregon program. Hunter completely fell off the face of the Earth shortly after arriving at Oregon, but has managed to come back and have a stellar senior season out of the bullpen.
- ESPN has some video with Mark Helfrich.
- Meanwhile, up at uw, Lorenzo Romar is shaking up his staff to counter recent recruiting lulls.
Finally, I'd like to send some good vibes to our brethren up north today. I'm a lifelong Trail Blazers fan, but the Seattle SuperSonics were always my second favorite team (maybe that seems counter-intuitive, whatever). You may know that the NBA is holding a little meeting today to make a final decision on the Kings/Sonics fiasco. I don't want to see Sacramento lose their team, and my hope would be that the league would see the merits of expansion in this situation. Regardless, I'm sending good thoughts Seattle's way, hoping that they come out of this with a new team.
GO DUCKS.
