I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day. Here's some quack to get you started on your short work week:
- It was announced yesterday that the baseball team had been awarded the #8 national seed which means the Ducks have an opportunity to host not only a regional this weekend, but a super regional the following weekend if they advance. The Ducks' regional includes South Dakota State, San Francisco and Rice.
- Adam Jude previews all of the teams in Oregon's regional. The Ducks first game is against South Dakota State at 6 pm on Friday. Jude also writes that Oregon's inclusion as the #8 national seed had some critics, including Baseball America's Aaron Fitt who noted the Ducks' 6-10 record against the top 50: "Apparently, going 1-2 against every regional team you play is good enough to get you a national seed, as long as you played a tough schedule. That shouldn't be good enough; national seeds are supposed to be elite, not just very good."
- Ted Miller posted the Oregon segment of his "one good thing" series, noting that things still look the same under Mark Helfrich.
- Headlining the Prefontaine Classic this weekend will be reigning Olympic gold medalist Mo Farrah, who will compete on Friday in the 10K. Ken Goe also takes a look at some of the other Nike Oregon Project athletes who will be competing this weekend, including former Ducks Galen Rupp and Matthew Centrowitz.
Go Ducks!
