Quack Fix: Northwest Champs

School and the Duck sports are wrapping up for the year. Only a few weeks left and we'll enter the dog days of summer. With the weather we had this weekend, it doesn't make it too hard to look forward to that time. Onto the Quack:

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

  • First and foremost, the Lady Diamond Ducks finished off a sweep of the Beavers to secure an outright Pac 12 title in softball. Considering the competition in the Pac, this is a huge accomplishment and if you're scoring at home the baseball, softball, men's basketball and football teams still haven't lost to anyone in the Northwest.
  • Speaking of Northwest sweeps, the baseball team bounced back from a loss to Seattle in the middle of the week to take care of the Cougs. A mid-week pair of games with Gonzaga this week and the entire season and Pac 12 title hinges on the Civil War in Eugene this weekend.
  • Congrats to Dakotah Keys on winning a second straight Pac 12 decathlon title. Kid is living in the shadows of another famous decathlete from the University and doing it well.
  • Ken Goe has his usual Track and Field rundown and everything is pointing towards the NCAA Championships being held at Hayward later this spring.
  • 10 dollar talent and 10 cent brain. Having met and talked with Cliff's family, I struggle with what it must be like to be a parent and support system for a kid that continues to screw up,
Lastly, one last call to anyone that wants to donate items for the Wolf Scholarship Auction that will start later this week. We already have a treasure trove of awesome Duck items, but are always looking for more. If you have any ideas or items that you think can be of use, please feel free to email me, and thank you again to everyone that has already chipped in. Be on the lookout later this week for posts getting everything going.
