The Oregon Ducks start the season ranked No. 3 in the country, topping five Pac-12 teams ranked in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll.

Oregon received 1397 points, ranking just ahead of No. 4 Stanford, who received 1262. The two squads topped five Pac-12 teams in the top 25. UCLA enters the season ranked No. 21, USC No. 24, and Oregon St. rounds out the poll at No. 25.

The top of the poll came as no surprise, with perennial national title favorite Alabama topping the poll, and preseason darling Ohio St. coming in at No. 2. After Oregon and Stanford, Georgia, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Clemson, Louisville, and Florida comprise the top ten, giving the top of the poll a distinctive southern flavor.

Notre Dame comes in at No. 11, Boise St. at No. 19, and Northwestern at No. 22.
