Quack Fix: Ducks back in College Football Playoff mix after 11th straight win over Huskies

Your daily dose of Oregon Ducks news.

Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

  • What a difference two weeks can make. After a 31-24 loss at home to Arizona, Ducks fans were overreacting as usual when an unexpected loss hits Oregon. After two straight wins however, the Ducks are right back in the mix for the College Football Playoff.
  • Reaching six wins may seem like nothing these days for the Ducks, but I can guarantee you it matters to the coaches. After securing bowl eligibility this weekend, Oregon's coaches are now ensured their postseason bonuses. For Mark Helfrich, that means an extra $50,000 in his pocket. For assistants, they'll get a bonus worth one month of their base salary. Can you say, "cha ching?"
  • This year's win over Washington was the 11th straight for the Ducks. As hard as it may be to comprehend right now, one day the Huskies will beat the Ducks again. As Austin Meeks points out, Chris Petersen will get the Huskies to that point, just not this year.
  • Edward Cheserek continued his domination on the cross country course, winning his sixth straight race over the weekend at the Pre-Nationals Invitational. Cheserek crossed the finish line first in 24:04.05. Fellow Duck Eric Jenkins was close behind with a third-place finish in 24:09.4 as the Ducks finished second as a team behind top ranked Colorado.
  • The No. 10 Oregon volleyball team bounced back from two straight losses with a 3-1 win over USC on the road. Liz Brenner recorded her 12th double-double of the year and was one of four Ducks who reached double digits in kills. Oregon now returns home to face Arizona and Arizona State.
