- Big news on the academic side of the University as Connie Ballmer, a 1984 UO alumna, and her husband, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer, have given a gift of $50 million to the University. The money will go to the UO endowment to support scholarships for low income students and new hires in obesity research.

- Dana Altman expects a couple of four-star recruits to sign before the early signing period is over. Point guard Kendall Small from Anaheim is expected to sign Sunday, while power forward Trevor Manuel out of Lansing, Mi., will have a ceremony on Friday.
- FIFA, benevolent organization that it is, has cleared Russia and Qatar of any wrongdoing in their bids for the World Cup, and are cleared to host the event in 2018 and 2022. The FIFA report, however, criticizes England as a horribly corrupt place. Yeah, whatever.
