  • On Friday, the Ducks held their final practice before leaving for Los Angeles. The best part of this report was when the entire blocking unit for placekicks started doing the "tomahawk chop" chant that Florida State fans do to get inside the head of Aidan Schneider. He proceeded to drill a 52-yard field goal. Mic dropped.
  • Had it not been for the mother of incoming Oregon quarterback Travis Waller, one of the top QB recruits in the nation, Waller would have been left out of the running for the presumed upcoming quarterback battle in Eugene this spring. Waller's high school, Servite High School, doesn't allow students to graduate early. But Momma Waller stepped in and persuaded the school to make an exception.
  • Speaking of the upcoming quarterback battle, the Ducks do have plenty of options if Mariota leaves for the NFL. There hasn't been a quarterback competition in Eugene since Mariota beat out Bryan Bennett for the starting job in 2012.
  • The Oregon men's basketball squad wraps up a stretch of three games in six days tonight when they take on UCSB at Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks have one final non-conference game against UC Irvine next Monday before kicking off Pac-12 play against Oregon State on January 3 in Eugene.
