Oregon Baseball vs. USC Final: Ducks Dismiss Trojans For First Conference Win

Ducks even their conference record to 1-1 on the young season.

Matt Krook pitched 6.1 innings for his first career win, and Mitchell Tolman drove in four runs as Oregon defeated USC, 7-2, to nab their first conference win of the season at PK Park.

Friday's conference opener was dreadful, but the Ducks rebounded quickly to get the victory on Satuday. The scoring started early for Oregon, as Jack Kruger doubled in Kyle Garlick in the second. It didn't take long after for the Ducks to break it wide open--with a two-run double by Tolman and a two-run jack by AJ Balta to extend the lead to 5-0 after 3. Tolman drove in two more runs in the fouth to end the Oregon scoring and grab a commanding 7-0 lead.

Krook allowed only six baserunners, getting out of a jam on a nifty 5-1-5-3 double play in the second. SC finally nabbed a couple of runs in the 7th, but the bullpen locked down the Trojans in the last couple of innings for the victory.

Rubber game of the series is Sunday at noon at PK Park.
