The NCAA is having its baseball selection show today, and Oregon's name has been called. The Ducks head to Nashville, Tennessee for the Nashville Regional, hosted by Vanderbilt University. In addition to Vanderbilt and Oregon, Clemson and Xavier round out the regional field.
There was some thought that Oregon could host a regional with a sweep of Cal this past weekend, but that sweep failed to materialize. Instead, the Ducks cross the country for a loaded regional that includes the Commodores, one of the top teams in the uber-deep SEC, undoubtedly the best conference in college baseball this season, and Clemson, a perennial ACC power.
Up the road in Corvallis, Oregon State secured the tournament's no. 1 overall seed, and will host UC-Irvine, UNLV, and North Dakota State in the Corvallis regional. With six regions still to be announced, Stanford is the only other Pac-12 team in at this point, a good sign for the conference as they were seen as firmly on the bubble. Washington and Arizona State are almost assuredly in the field, with the former still having a chance of hosting the first round. For the fully updated field, click here.
