Today is called a "teacher work day." Tomorrow is called summer vacation. I call it "time to start thinking about football." Here is some Quack to get you through:
- Day one of the NCAA Track and Field Championships in in the books, and it was a mixed day for the Women of Oregon. The Ducks lead with 13 points, getting an unexpected victory in the long jump by sophomore Jenna Prandini. However, a botched handoff saw them fail to qualify for the 4x100 relay, an event Oregon was expected to finish well in and could come back to haunt them later this week.
- Like the women, the Men of Oregon saw an individual national champion on the first day when super-Freshman Edward Cheserek won the 10,000 meters. The men also sit atop the day one standings, scoring all 15 of their points in that single event.
- For those of you who want to keep up on the action, Rob Moseley has a nice Thursday preview at Goducks.com.
- On a quick football note, Mel Kiper loves him some Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, calling him the No. 1 senior in the conference in terms of NFL potential.
That's all the Quack for today. If you find more, share.
