Oregon improved their record to 6-0 after a 78-73 win over Fresno State. Dillon Brooks had a game high 21 points and ten rebounds.
The Ducks zone was difficult for the Bulldogs. Fresno State didn't get many open shots because of Oregon's rotation on defense. Elgin Cook pushed the pace for the Ducks and had seven early points that ignited an 11-0 run to start the game. Oregon's ability to rebound allowed Cook to run the floor and get a lot of shots at the rim. Cook finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Chris Boucher continued to anchor the defense. The senior had five blocks, including two on one possession.
Oregon's ball movement challenged the Bulldogs defense. When the Ducks weren't getting shots at the rim they were shooting free throws. Oregon made 26 free throws compared to Fresno State's 12.
Fresno State made it close towards the end. Despite a 19 point Oregon lead, the Bulldogs continued to out-rebound Oregon and chipped away at the deficit. With under two minutes to go Marvelle Harris made a three-pointer that closed Oregon's lead to 72-68. The Ducks made four free throws in the final minute to put the game out of reach.
Oregon will play their first away game on Friday. The Ducks will play UNLV at 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
