Its a lazy Friday, but Dave and Rusty are back for a new episode of the Slingin' Quack podcast.
Apologies for the lack of a show last week. We recorded a really good recruiting recap with Noah Smith, but technical difficulties will prevent that broadcast from ever seeing the light of day.
In this episode, we focused on the attendance issue that plagues not only the Oregon Ducks, but all of college basketball. Why is attendance so subpar? Why does student enthusiasm seem to be waning? And what can Oregon do to reengage the fanbase? Is the issue even a fixable one--or will television render it unsolvable?
The simple answers--that the offseason scandal or the move to Matthew Knight Arena--aren't supported by the data on this one. The issues with Oregon's attendance precede either of those happenings.
