Popular Eugene bar Taylor's will be renamed to Marcus's

The oldest bar in Eugene is getting a brand new name in honor of Oregon's Heisman winner.

Marcus Mariota may be gone, but his legacy will live on forever in Eugene.

It was announced on Wednesday morning that Taylor's Bar and Grille, one of the most popular campus bars on 13th Ave., will be renamed to "Marcus's" effective immediately. The name change comes as a rebranding effort from the bar to help clean up its image.

Taylor's has been widely known as a bar filled with frat bros, sticky floors that are seemingly never cleaned and loud music that will leave you with minor hearing damage for the rest of the night. Ownership says they're hoping by changing the name, it will help create a better image of the bar by naming it after the most beloved football player in school history. Sorry, Joey.

As part of the change, an endless loop of Marcus Mariota highlights will play on a 60-inch TV in the bar, no matter what time of day it is. So while you wait for your drink of choice, you can watch Mariota win the Rose Bowl and hoist the Heisman Trophy all over again.

Drinks on the menu will also be named after the beloved quarterback. The infamous AMF, which every UO student has regrettably had more than once during their time in school, will now be called the Heisman Punch, and will appropriately mix Koloa rum with Hawaiin Punch.

New drink specials will also be a part of the menu. On Wednesday nights, in addition to dollar beers, you can get two double Heisman Punch drinks for eight dollars, enough to put even the frattiest of frat bros out of commission for the rest of the night.

Also, a new happy hour will be added nightly at 8:00 p.m. with half-priced Heisman Punch drinks, just in case you wanted to start your blackout nice and early.

When we tried to get an exclusive interview with the owners, they declined, because this is April Fools Day.
