Quack Fix: The first day of preseason practice

Your daily dose of Oregon Ducks news.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

  • The Ducks kicked off the 2015 campaign on Monday as the first preseason marks a new chapter in the program. Things got off to a chaotic start as Rob Moseley reports but Jeff Lockie was on his game right from the start.
  • The news of Thomas Tyner's season ending shoulder surgery was a big blow for the Oregon offense. The unit, however, is in good hands as two young running backs are eager to step right in and contribute behind expected starter Royce Freeman.
  • While camp got underway on Monday, the speculation about when Vernon Adams will arrive continues to hover over the program. Adams is widely expected to compete with Jeff Lockie for the starting quarterback job if and when he joins the team.
  • Despite the bad news with Thomas Tyner, the Ducks received some good news as true freshman  RB Taj Griffin was given the go ahead from head coach Mark Helfrich. Griffin had previously been recovering from an ACL tear during his senior year in high school. He's expected to compete for playing time with Tyner out for the season.
