Quack Fix: From Marcus Mariota, to Vernon Adams

Your daily dose of Oregon Ducks news.

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

  • The question about Oregon was who would replace Marcus Mariota in 2015. That question has been answered as Vernon Adams has been named the starter for week one. Adams faces the team he left behind from 2014 as the Ducks open against Eastern Washington on Saturday.
  • Oregon has run into a little bit of trouble with the NCAA, as the school reported eight violations to the institution in charge of college athletics. The violations ranged from text messages to illegal phone calls, to baseball coaches attending recruits' games in the dead period of the recruiting season. As always, the NCAA has some completely absurd rules.
  • 4-star CB Jared Mayden is a Ducks commit, and one of the top rated. He still plans to take visits to other schools, however. After losing two 4-star recruits in Theo Howard and Troy Warner early in August, the Ducks would rather not lose Mayden as well.
  • The women's volleyball team moved to 4-0 on Monday, defeating LIU Brooklyn in 4 sets. The Ducks had their streak of 11 straight set wins snapped, but cruised to a 4th set win. They'll travel east to take on George Washington in Washington D.C. on Tuesday.
