Biggest Quack: University of Washington Pulls the Upset

UW beats out #1 seed FSU for the first Biggest Quack award.

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

We have our winner.

Truthfully, by the way things were going in this tournament over the summer, I thought the FSU Fanbase was going to win it all. I mean, come on, they were blowing everyone out of the water that they went up against. But I have to hand it to you guys. You guys are faithful to a fault, not letting the University of Washington get away that easily. However, you did allow them to win something...so...double edged sword? Who cares. It's Washington. Plus, I love a good upset. As long as it's not my team that is on the bad end of the upset.

Let's take a look at our first Biggest Quack:

-1948 Rose Bowl Vote: In 1948, there was a tie in the conference between California and Oregon for a chance to go to the Rose Bowl. The conference decided to put it to a vote. Everyone assumed the California schools would vote for Cal, while the Northwest schools vote for Oregon. While most of that held true, there was one school in the Northwest who voted for Cal, sending them to the Rose Bowl over Oregon. Any guess who?

-2003: Husky players have 30 minute celebration after they beat the Ducks 42-14 in Autzen.

-2010 Woodward Comments: " It's an embarrassment what their academic institution is, and what's happened to them as far as their state funding has gone," said Woodward. "In my mind, it's a wonderful athletic facility, but they've watched it at the expense of the university go really down. "...Any of the rankings you look at, you watch how far (the Ducks have) dropped because of their state funding."

Congrats to the huskies for winning this most prestigious award.

Who will win it next year? Will it be be Thomas Tyner's injury? Steve Sarkisian's drunk comments? Another nominee who will come out of the dark that we don't know about yet? Only time will tell.
